AFTER SCHOOL DTT PROGRAM

DTT, or day treatment and training, helps members develop the life skills that are needed in a social setting. The after-school program teaches members how to interact with one another. For example, we encourage individuals to engage in a variety of activities together. The program is not designed to be a daycare alternative. Instead, it is a chance for members to learn how to properly communicate and participate with other individuals while engaging in activities under professional supervision.
Lexington Services is a Qualified Vendor. Our program operates in a setting where members participating are approved in a supervised program. You can consider the program like habilitation because it teaches members independent skills, but in a social setting. Members will strengthen skills like how to communicate with one another. This way, they can enter the rest of the community with more ease and socialization skills.

GOALS

According to the member’s planning document, we provide the best care and supervision to meet their needs.

  • On a day-to-day basis, the program will help to improve the member’s social and communicative skills.
    • For example, let’s say a member asks another member to participate in a painting activity. But, the other member prefers sports-related activities. We encourage the member to participate in the art activity anyway and invite the other member to play sports next. This teaches everyone to be adaptable and open to trying new things.
  • The program allows members to make friends with one another and find a community where they can thrive. We also provide our members with information and resources regarding what their community has to offer. This way, once the program is over, members can go out into the community with the social skills they learned.
  • We help our members utilize community transportation resources to support all daily living activities if need be.
  • Finally, some activities members perform are with peers to learn social skills, turn taking, sharing, participating in non-preferred activities such as, crafts, sports, cooking, science projects, community outings, proper communication skills, etc.

OBJECTIVES

The ultimate goal is to give our members the ability to lead a meaningful community life. With the skills our program can help develop, members have the opportunity to make future plans that involve independence in a social setting. For example, maybe members can consider becoming more involved in the community after the program. Certain leagues or organizations could be of interest. Possibly members can more confidently enter different schools or work opportunities.

Maybe you or your loved one has some specific goals they want to meet socially. Our special needs after-school programs could be perfect for you and your loved one. We aim to integrate our members into the rest of the community. It gives our members a chance to make new friends and find new interests independently in a safe environment. Overall, the program is fun and something to look forward to.

We ensure that each member’s health needs are met. Our trained team will look after your loved one and follow all the care outlined in their planning document. We can develop strategies to address behavioral concerns, developing behavior intervention programs, and coordinating with behavioral health programs to ensure proper review of medication treatment plans.
